The process of acquiring literacy in first grade has been a significant topic; developing linguistic skills such as reading and writing in the early years is key to acquiring new knowledge in later grades. However, it has been observed that synthetic methods are still used for this purpose, without considering it as a daily practice. This led to the research objective of implementing ongoing literacy activities to contribute to the improvement of literacy skills. The methodology is based on a mixed-methods approach with a pre-experimental design. In the pre-test, a diagnostic assessment was administered to a group of 13 students from the "Teodomiro Manzano" Elementary School, revealing students at different levels: five were pre-syllabic, two syllabic, three syllabic-alphabetic, and three alphabetic. Subsequently, the proposed intervention, consisting of ongoing literacy activities, was implemented. In the post-test, the dictation instrument used showed significant progress. It is concluded that ongoing activities and literacy improve the acquisition of reading and writing skills in the first grade of primary school in Mexico.
